Personally I do not think it is very respectful to break up over a text message. There are a few situations which we discussed in class such as if they cheated on you, or if they disrespected you in a very rude way. Other than those situations there is personally no reason to do that to someone that you have cared about. As I mentioned I have done it in middle school with not much thought behind it. I look back on the situations now, and feel terrible about it. If I could go back and do it over I would approach them in person because they would have a lot better understanding of why this happened. They would probably respect me a little more as a person as well. I have never been broken up with over a text, but if I was I wouldn't feel very good about it. I have been dating my girlfriend for four years now, so if she were to do that to me it wouldn't make much sense in my mind. After four years you would think a person would be able to approach you and tell you why or how this is happening. I would be much more satisfied if someone were to break up with me in person as well as if I were to do it to someone else.
